Our faces change expressions hundreds of times a day throughout our lives. Think about what happens when you squint, frown, or look surprised. These repeated expressions form lines or creases and, eventually, become etched into your skin. They are commonly referred to as the “dynamic wrinkles” targeted by BOTOX injections.
Both BOTOX and Dysport are considered neuromodulators. When we inject them into specific areas, they block nerve signals that cause the muscles in the treated areas to contract. Relaxed muscles allow the facial skin to smooth out, gradually softening wrinkles. Even though both BOTOX and Dysport are effective, some patients respond better to one versus the other. Is Dysport Better Than BOTOX?
The differences between Dysport and BOTOX are subtle. The best neuromodulator depends on your target areas and goals. What Is a Lip Flip?
A BOTOX lip flip is a quick, nonsurgical lip enhancement treatment that provides subtle results for our patients from Portland, Bend, and the surrounding Eugene, OR, communities. It makes the upper lip look fuller without adding volume by relaxing the surrounding muscles.
Where do you inject BOTOX for a lip flip?
We place tiny injections of BOTOX into the orbicularis oris muscle that surrounds the upper lip. Within a few days, the muscle relaxes, allowing the lip to gently roll outward (flip), exposing more of the red vermillion.
Lip flip vs. fillers
BOTOX and lip fillers enhance the lips in different ways.
- Lip flip: A lip flip creates a subtle lift and shape change using muscle relaxation, perfect for patients who want a more natural look or feel their upper lip disappears when they smile. Results develop gradually over a few days.
- Fillers: In contrast, lip fillers add volume, structure, and definition from within the lips. The results are instant, but expect temporary swelling.

What Is Masseter BOTOX?
Injecting BOTOX into the large muscles of the jaw (masseter muscles) can help some patients have a more tapered, heart-shaped facial contour. This nonsurgical facial slimming treatment is especially effective for treating overdeveloped muscles caused by clenching and grinding the teeth (bruxism) rather than bone structure.
After treatment, the jawline begins to slim gradually within about 2 to 4 weeks, and results typically last 4 to 6 months.
